I/5.5 mm (or hook to obtain gauge)
Notes
This cowl is worked flat sideways then seamed.
You can sub with any DK weight yarn. KT and the Squid’s Squid DK is a great sub as well!

11 sc worked in the BLO by 12 row = 3” square (blocked)
Abbreviations
Ch = chain
St(s) = stitch(es)
Sc = single crochet
Hdc= half double crochet
BLO = back loop only
ws = wrong side
Blue Tide Cowl Free Crochet Pattern Instructions
Ch 39
Row 1 (ws): Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn. -38 sts
Rows 2-5: Ch 1, working in the BLO, sc in each st across, turn.
Rows 6-9: Ch 1, hdc in the 1st st, slip st in the next st, *hdc in the next st, slip st in the next st; repeat from * across, turn.
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Rows 11-14: Ch 1, working in the BLO sc in each st across, turn.
Repeat rows 6-14 for a total of 86 rows.
Repeat rows 6-9 one more time for a total of 90 rows.
Do NOT fasten off
Finishing
Fold cowl in half, slip st the starting chs to the sts of the last row, ch 1, evenly sc around the opening of the cowl, join with a slip stitch to the first sc, fasten off.
Join yarn to the other opening of the cowl, ch 1, evenly sc around the opening, join with a slip st to the first sc, fasten off.
Block (sample was steam blocked), weave in ends.
