2022 Stitch Together Blanket Stitch-A-Thon Square 8 Free Crochet Pattern

This 7 inch free crochet square is worked in a diagonal fashion with an increase section and decrease section. This makes it easily adjustable. Work up as many as you’d like to make a whole blanket or follow along with the 2022 Stitch Together Blanket Stitch-A-Thon.

Ch = chain

St(s) = stitch(es)

Sc = single crochet

hdc = half double crochet

Gauge (save time and check your gauge!)

15 sc by 18 rows = 4″ square (gauge is measured after blocking)

2022 Stitch Together Blanket Stitch-A-Thon Square 8 Free Crochet Pattern Instructions

Increase Rows

Ch 2

Row 1 (rs): 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, turn. –2

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st, turn. 4

Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc, sc in each st until 1 remains, 2 sc in the last, turn. –6

Row 4: Ch 1, *hdc, slip st; repeat from * across, turn

Rows 5-7: Repeat row 3. –12

Row 8: Repeat row 4.

Rows 9-20: Repeat rows 5-8 three times. –30

Row 21: Repeat row 3. –32

Decrease Rows

Rows 22-23: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each st until 2 remain, sc2tog, turn. –28

Row 24: Repeat row 4.

Rows 25-27: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in each st until 2 remain, sc2tog, turn. –22

Repeat rows 24-27 until 4 sts remain.

Row 40: Repeat row 4.

Row 41: Ch 1, sc2tog twice, turn. –2

Row 42: Ch 1, sc2tog. –1

Fasten off
