I love these shawl-cowl hybrid patterns because they are so quick to work up. This pattern only uses one skein of yarn but looks much fuller when worn. I always get compliments when I wear it!

Approx. 16” tall at the highest point by 21” around (after blocking).
Yarn
1 skeins of We Crochet Brava (100% acrylic; 100g/218 yards; worsted weight). Pictured in colorway Salt and Pepper Speckle

J/6mm (or hook to obtain gauge)
Notes
This cowl will be worked sideways then seamed at the end.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern
13 sts by 9 rows = 4” square blocked
Gauge Pattern:
Ch an odd number.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, *sc in next ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * across.
Row 2: Sc in each dc, dc in each sc across.
Repeat row 2 to desired length.

With color A ch 31
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, *sc in next ch, dc in next ch; repeat from * across. -30 sts
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working in the FLO, 2 sc in the 1st st, dc in the next, *sc in the next, dc in the next; repeat from * across. -31 sts
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, working in the FLO, sc in 1st st, *dc in the next, sc in the next; repeat from * across. -31 sts
Row 4: Ch 2, turn, working in the FLO, (sc, dc) in the 1st st, *sc in the next, dc in the next; repeat from * across. -32 sts
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, working in the FLO, sc in the 1st st, dc in the next, *sc in the next, dc in the next; repeat from * across. -32 sts
Repeat rows 2-5 until your cowl measures approximately 20” from the foundation ch to the last row along the straight edge.
You can add more rows if you need a wider cowl.
Finishing
Slip st the first 30 sts of the last row to the bottom of the foundation chain.
If you’d like a more finished look you can work a round of sc around the bottom and top of the cowl.
Fasten off, block, weave in ends.
