Boisfort Top Free Crochet Pattern
The Boisfort Top free crochet pattern is a ¾ length sleeve, bottom up construction sweater made in one piece. Designed with stripes and a button detail on the sleeve this is an ideal everyday sweater. This sweater is made with sport weight yarn making it the ideal medium weight sweater for spring and fall. The intermediate crocheter starting out making garments will find this pattern just right with the double crochet stitches and the simple color changes.

Special Stitches
Foundation Double Crochet (Fdc): Ch 3, Yarn over, insert hook into the 3rd ch from hook, yarn over, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 1 loop on hook (this makes the ch), (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) twice (completes the dc).
Next Fdc: Yarn over, insert hook under the 2 loops of the ch of the last st and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 1 loop, (yarn over pull through 2 loops) twice.
Stripe Pattern
Work 2 rows/rounds in color A, then 2 rows/rounds in color B throughout the top.
To change color, work to the last step of the last st before the color change. Draw up a loop of the new color to complete the st and continue with pattern.
Drop the unused color at the end of each stripe and carry it up through the inside of the sweater. Do not fasten off unless instructed.

Bottom
Remember to follow the stripe pattern above.
Round 1 (WS): With color A, fdc 172 (192, 212, 230, 250, 272, 292), being careful not to twist, join with a slip st to the first fdc. 172 (192, 212, 230, 250, 272, 292)
Round 2 (RS): Ch 2 (does not count as a st from here on), turn, dc in every fdc around, join with a slip st to the first st. 172 (192, 212, 230, 250, 272, 292)
Round 3: Ch 2, turn, dc in every dc around, join with a slip st to the first st. 172 (192, 212, 230, 250, 272, 292)
Repeat round 3 until you have 46 total rounds.
Split for Arm Openings
You will now work in rows to split for the arm openings. Continue working in the stripe pattern.
Back
Turn, skip 5 sts from fasten off, join with the next color in the stripe pattern.
Row 1: Ch 2, dc in the first 76 (86, 96, 105, 115, 126, 136).
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc in every st across. 76 (86, 96, 105, 115, 126, 136)
Repeat row 2, until you have 10 (12, 14, 14, 16, 18, 18) total rows.
Split for Neck (back)
Row 1: Ch 2, turn, dc in the first 16 (19, 24, 28, 33, 38, 43), dc2tog. 17 (20, 25, 29, 34, 39, 43)
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, dc in every st across. 17 (20, 25, 29, 34, 39, 43)
Fasten off.
With wrong side facing, return to the last row of the back (before the split for neck), skip 40 (44, 44, 45, 45, 46, 46) and join with the next color in the stripe pattern.
Row 1: Ch 1, dc2tog, dc in each remaining st. 17 (20, 25, 29, 34, 39, 43)

Front
With wrong side facing, return back to the last round of the bottom, skip 10 sts from the first row of the back, join with the next color in the stripe pattern.

Split for Neck (Front)

With right side facing, join with color B to unworked side of the first fdc.

Front Bottom Trim
Join with color B to the next unworked fdc of the bottom.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 of the Back Bottom Trim until you have 4 rows.
Last Round: With color B, ch 1, turn, evenly sc around the bottom, join with a slip st to the first st.
Fasten off.
Neck trim
Round 1: With right side facing, join with color B to any stitch of the neck opening, ch 1, evenly sc around the entire neck opening, join with a slip st to the first st.
Round 2: Ch 1, working in the FLO, sc in each st around, join with a slip st to the first st.
Repeat round 2, 2 more times.
Fasten off.
Button Loops (make 2)
With color B, ch 28.
Round 1: 3 Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch until 1 ch remains, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last ch, working in the opposite side of the ch, sc in the next ch, sc in each remaining ch until 1 ch remains, skip the last ch (the one with 3 scs) join with a slip st to the first st.
The ch-3 space will be the button hole.
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in the first 3 sts, sc in each st to the ch-3 space, 4 sc in the ch-3 space, sc in each remaining st, join with a slip st to the first st.
Fasten off, leave tail for sewing.
Finishing
Block, weave in all ends (leave one tail on the button loop on the side without the button hole for sewing).
Place the end of the button loop without the buttonhole on the inside of the 6th stripe from the bottom of the sleeve and the button on the outside of the sleeve in the same place. Use the untrimmed end to sew the button loop and the button on at the same time.
Sew the button loop higher or lower on the sleeve for a more or less scrunched up sleeve.
