Notes
- Follow the chart from right to left and bottom to top. Round 1 of the chart starts with round 1 of the written instructions.
- To change color work to the last step of the stitch before the color change, complete the stitch with the new color.
- Do not fasten off when changing color, work over unused color for the entire pencil case.
- For this pattern you will work in the back loops. For a more sturdy pencil case that doesn’t need a lining use the method from this video.
Instructions
With color A ch 37.
Round 1: sc in the second ch from hook and every ch across, continue working on the other side of the foundation ch, sc in the same ch and every ch across, do NOT join, place a stitch marker in the first st of the round. 72
Note: each ch will have 2 single crochets, one on either side.
From here on move the stitch marker up to mark the first st of every round. If you use a long piece of scrap yarn you can weave it up as you go. That way if you make a mistake and need to frog (I made a few mistakes) you won’t lose where the first st is.
Round 2: Working in the BLO sc in each stitch around. 72
Repeat round 2 following the Dolphin Chart.
Note: the different shades of blue and grey are just to help keep your place when reading the chart.
Round 26: Join with a slip stitch to the first stitch of the last round, ch 1, sc (in both loops) in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first sc, fasten off. 72
Weave in all ends, sew in zipper.
