The Picnic Scarf FREE Crochet Pattern

The Picnic Scarf was a paid pattern until now. I’ve decided to make this pattern FREE. The scarf is easy and would make a great first time project for a beginner.

The Picnic Scarf
Measurements:
Approx. 7” by 60”
Gauge:
11 stitches and 11 rows in pattern = 4×4 inches
Materials:
3 colors of any soft worsted weight yarn.
Red Heart E300.0341 Super Saver Economy Yarn, Light Grey
Red Heart E300.0774 Super Saver Economy Yarn, Light Raspberry
Red Heart E302B.0311 Super Saver Jumbo Yarn, White
Yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Abbreviations:
st(s) = stitches
Notes:
1. Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning.
2. This pattern requires 3 colors. I have labeled them A, B and C.
3. This scarf can be made any size you’d like by chaining a multiple of 2 plus 1.
Instructions:
With color A ch 21
Row 1: sc in 2nd chain from hook and every st across. (20sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn *Dc, sc. Repeat from* to end. (20sts)
Row 3-10: repeat row 2.
Row 11: Change to color B. Repeat row 2.
Row 12-16: Change to color C. Repeat row 2.
Row 17: Change to color B. Repeat row 2.
Row 18: Change to color A. Repeat row 2.
Repeat row 2 with color A until scarf measures approx. 53 inches.
Note: You can make this section longer or shorter if you’d like.
You will now end with the same stripe pattern you started with but in reverse.
Row 1: Change to color B. Repeat row 2.
Row 2-6: Change to color C. Repeat row 2.
Row 7: Change to color B. Repeat row 2.
Row 8-16: Change to color A. Repeat row 2.
Row 17: Sc in every st across. (20 sts)
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
