Garter tab – knit 6 rows (of 3 st) – “pick up 3 stitches” – both of those instructions (PU 3) – HOW? Do you mean “add 3 stitches” – where would you pick them up FROM? I’m sorry – I’m a pretty good knitter (not an expert) but I don’t understand this. Please help! I REALLY want to do this 🙂

      Hi Jeanie!
So the 3 sts are picked up across the side of the garter bumps then you pick up the sts from the cast on. You can look up “garter tab cast on” and there’s lots of tutorials that might give you a good visual for this.
It’s basically a little tab of garter sts that eliminate the funny dip in at the start of half shawls.
      Hope that helps!
      Katy
