Notes
• Read all instructions before beginning.
• This hat is worked in rounds.
• The ch1 or ch2 does NOT count as a stitch at the beginning of each round.
• Always join to the 1st stitch of the round (not the ch1/ch2) and work the
1st stitch of the next round in the same stitch you joined into.
• You may replace the ch3 at the beginning with a magic ring if you’d like (do
NOT count skipped chs as a stitch).

  • I love to use THIS technique for changing color. It make perfect seamless stripes!

This is my favorite hat pattern and I have used it many times for making my hats for the shelter. Many times I vary the pattern, eliminating stripes, making only a solid stripe, or use a s a basic pattern for a character hat and adding more rows. I think when I got this last year it was a paid pattern. It is easy to say “I love this pattern.”

    • ktandthesquid

      Thanks BettyLou!
Yes, it was a paid pattern before. This was the second pattern I had ever written so it was time to retire it.
I love that you change it up because that’s exactly why I designed it. It’s a great base for something more special 🙂

  • JennyG

How do you modify this pattern for a 24″ head? Or should I keep it the same and it will stretch to fit?

    • ktandthesquid

      Hey Jenny,
You should be fine with the largest size. These hats stretch pretty well. I usually say the adult fits 22″-24″ 🙂

    • ktandthesquid

      Hi Joann,
I find it doesn’t leave holes but feel free to replace it if you’d like. It is your project after all 🙂

  • Pamela

Thank you for designing this striped easy beanie pattern .its great and I found it just in time to make all the sizes I need for all boys n men on my Xmas list. Thumbs up. Your awesome ???????

  • Julia

Thank go for this great pattern!
I used it to make 40 hats for 2 local homeless shelters. I hope to make it 100. Then I will pick another charity to crochet for.

    • ktandthesquid

      Oh wow!
My goal this year is to make 3 hats a months to donate to local schools (they hand them out to kids that need them) or our local mission. 100 hats would be amazing!
